I know
we have all seen so many Bf109 kits on review sites but I had a sheet of
Eaglecals laying around and there was an online contest for early 109's! The
Tamiya Bf109 kits are so easy to build and look so nice when completed you
almost can't help yourself sometimes. My 109, (which did not even place in the
top five), was built to depict Hans "Assi" Hahn's mount while flying
with III./JG2 from LeHavre, France around November of 1940.

The kit
goes together so well its not even worth discussing and I added nothing but the
Photo etch seat belts and the Eaglecal decals which were very nicely done and
snuggled down very well with just a bit of Micro-sol. The kit was finished with
ModelMaster RLM02 and Polly S RLM71 topsides over Polly S RLM 65 undersurfaces.
The yellow is Aeromaster's RLM 02 Gelb. The Cockpit is RLM 02 as the change to
RLM 66 had not yet occurred. I preshaded panel lines and added some depth with
an artist's pencil. A bit of exhaust and cordite staining was needed as well and
for that I used a mix of black and dark gray colors from Polly S.
