1/48 Academy Hawker Hunter F6

Hawker Hunter F6 - 56 Squadron RAF

Until the Academy kit was issued the only 1:48 Hunters available were from Aeroclub in vac-form, a Swedish vac-form, and an old 1950s type kit from Nichimo which was very crude and relatively expensive.  The Academy kit is well moulded but needs a bit of planning in the construction to get a good wing to fuselage join.  I assembled the wings separately and joined each to the appropriate fuselage half before finally joining the fuselage halves together.

I deepened the kit supplied cockpit tub to enable a non-double jointed pilot to be accommodated and installed a resin ejection seat.  The model was primed with grey auto primer and the RAF camouflage brush painted on using Humbrol enamels.  Decals are from Xtradecal and represent a 56 Squadron Aircraft from RAF Waterbeach in 1959.

Enjoy the photos.
