I used Black Box and Eduard sets to detail up the
kit. Decals are from CAM Decals.
The modifications to the kit are:
-Repositioned the control surfaces for a more
realistic and relaxed look
| I got rid of that incorrect
speedbrake. I loaded the model with a custom loadout. Four Mk82
snakeyes on the right wing, a GBU-16 on the left wing. The snakeyes are loaded
with two BRU-33 A/A Canted vertical ejector racks. I modified them from
Hasegawa's kit racks by making them slightly larger and a making the ejector
units angled to the outside 5 degrees. The mk82's should have BSU-86 fins, but
the snakeyes looked similar to that one. |

I replicated the fireproof coating
used on the navy bombs by brushing Tamiya's liquid cement on the bombs and
slightly dabbing a brush on it.

-
-I didn't use the LST/SCAM pod given by Italeri,
and used the TFLIR pod from Hasegawa's hornet kit.
-
-I enlarged the drop tank
-
-I toed out the pylons
-
-Added the aerodynamic fairings on the pylons by
cutting the tips of some old bombs and gluing them onto the pylon.
-
-Replicated the fuze wire of the mk82 bombs using
fine stretched sprue.
-
-Added the IFF box in front of the windshield.
The kit requires some filler and sanding, and it's
not much easy to finish it. But when the major errors are corrected and the
kit is completed, it looks like the real one. Just use the sandpapers and
files. I really need to build a Tamiya kit after this one :)
Many thanks to Joe Hegedus for making things clear
for me.
